About Bracksketblogs

10th most accurate bracket prediction site over the past 5 seasons (according to bracketmatrix)

Bracksketblogs is a blog that posts predictions on the seeding that the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Selection Committee will produce on Selection Sunday.  For most of the season, it is updated weekly, on monday mornings.  Once conferences tournaments begin, updates are posted more frequently.

A few important notes:

  • This does not represent what I think *should* be the tournament seeding.  It represents what I think the committee will do.  The differences are subtle, but they do exist.
  • For one-bid conferences, I choose the school that I think would win the auto-bid *if the conference tournament started today*.  This is often the school currently in first place, but not always.  Conference tournament location often comes into play with one-bid conferences.  This is why I had Princeton winning the Ivy bid for most of last season, despite the fact that they were rarely(?) in first place.
  • These represent my true seeding lists, without respect to bracketing principles.  Sometimes the predicted seeding lists may produce a situation where one or more teams would have to be bumped up or down a line to adhere to bracketing principles.  For example, it’s pretty clear that after 2024-2025, at some point, all 8 and 9 seeds will come from the Big 10.  The committee would have to bump some of them to adhere to their rules.
